Vampyr Verse

My good friend and fellow Alliterate (and President of the Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets), Lester Smith, has started a new website … VampyrVerse.com.

With only a few weeks notice, he’s organizing a contest (and related print collection) for poems about vampires.

The terms of the contest are very good (as I’d expect from Les) … the authors only have to grant first serial rights to publish the work and retain all other rights and controls themselves. There is NO FEE to enter the contest. And the author will receive one free copy of the book for EACH poem that is accepted for the collection. Winning ALSO gets the author membership in the Popcorn Press Author’s Group, which gets you a 40% discount on all Popcorn Press publications.

And if you’re not a poetry writing kind of person, you can still participate by being an Ally of the collection if you have a Twitter account. To do this, simply ReTweet any post by @VampyrVerse during the month of October. Each ReTweet will count as an entry into a drawing for one of ten free copies of the final Vampyr Verse book.

I’ve already submitted one poem … a limerick. (I’m a big fan of the limerick … used to have a Limerick-of-the-Day white board outside my office at TSR … and I have loose plans to put out a little book combining some of my original works with related cartoons.) Perhaps I’ll submit more, if the dark muse moves me.
