New Age Synchronicity

Early last week I was working on a writing project, which meant that my selection of music to listen to was limited. When I’m working with text, I generally can only listen to instrumental music, or lyrical music in a language I don’t understand. I have Japanese, French, and Italian groups that are on my “writing playlist.”

The big exception to that rule is Enya—for some reason, even when her songs are in English, they don’t cause dissonance in my head, so she’s on that playlist, and has been a major source of calm and focus during just about EVERY major writing projects I’ve ever worked on.

Anyway, as I was writing last week I realized that it had been awhile since I’d listened to any Enya (apart from the tracks she did for the Return of the King soundtrack), and I resolved to change that the next time I sat down to right. Then, just this morning, I discovered that she released a new album . . . two days ago!

Needless to say, I’ve now purchased Dark Sky Island, and THAT will be what I’m listening to when I start my next manga rewrite assignment later on this week.
